Our History

Northbrook Academy, a private, co-ed, non-profit school, since 2004, is quickly becoming the premier academy for its comprehensive and challenging educational offerings.

When we opened our doors the intention was not to specialize in one area, such as arts, but to have the most comprehensive and challenging educational offering that would stimulate students to grow in all areas: mind, body and spirit.  We do this through leveraging an extended day and utilizing the expertise of many specialists, teachers, who appreciate the uniqueness and challenges of the middle years and enjoy the opportunity to prepare college -bound students.

Northbrook Academy has been and will always be a small dynamic school. This offers our students a caring family-oriented learning environment.  One benefit of a small school is that it facilitates individualized learning and makes it easier for teachers to customize classes to meet the learning styles of the students. This has made it a a very attractive place for teachers who really love to teach, In addition to benefiting from energized classes taught by outstanding teachers, Northbrook's small size presents students with more leadership and achievement opportunities in academics, arts, athletics and citizenship.  Finally, by staying small and dynamic, Northbrook's ensures superior student-teacher ratios with an average class size of nine students.

Northbrook opened in the old "North School" of Raynham, located near routes 24 and 495 in Raynham, MA.

In 2011, Northbrook moved to Middleborough, into the "Grant Building" at 40 North Main Street. .

If you ask students what makes their Northbrook Experience special, each student would answer uniquely. Each individual is encouraged to try many new things and therefore to discover their own interests which will create the highlights of their Northbrook years. Some expound upon the joys of finally being challenged by high level Math classes and taking both Latin and Spanish, others detail their love of Music Theory, Music History, Rock Band and Swimming. Students agree, however, that the community is "friendly," the teachers are "great," the academics are " challenging," and the activities, clubs and athletics are "fun."

"Friendly, great, challenging and fun" - don't let these simple adjectives keep you from coming up with your own; discover the Northbrook Experience, and you will discover how marvelously meaningful school can be!
