BASKETBALL ARTCLE IN RAYNHAM CALL
BASKETBALL ARTICLE IN BRIDGEWATER INDEPENDENT
Yes, ladies and gentleman Northbrook Academy Basketball Team is the Christian Athletic Association League Champions. The packed house was thrilled by the “little school on Baker Road”. Final score 37 to 15 but this does not tell the whole story.
Northbrook took the lead with a strong first period performance by Captain Ryan Murray (Bridgewater) six points and seven rebounds to lead the Shamrocks to a seventeen to two lead in the first period. Will Holt (Bridgewater) and Grace Orfanello (East Taunton) lead a strong defensive effort on the boards. Mike Pyne was all over the court leading a friece fast Shamrock break . When the dust cleared Northbrook had a commanding lead going into the third period. Noah Poole (Bridgewater) and Patrick Korzeniowski (Bridgewater) would not let the lead diminish with both strong efforts. Poole dominate on the defensive boards and Patrick played extremely strong “D” point on offense . Then there was Captain Thomas Conlon (Brockton). Thomas was sick so Coach Harrison decided to hold him back. In the third and fourth quarter Tom scored nine points in a winning effort. Nick Hamilton (Norton) scored his first basket of the season. Nick started as Manager and worked his way up to Varsity as did his friend Ben Willams from West Bridgewater.
Coach Harrison is extremely proud of his “Running Shamrocks” and his little school that can. Northbrook finished their basketball season 13 and 1.
Northbrook Academy would like to thank Coach Walter Korzeniowski for his effort and kindness shown to the “Running Shamrocks”.

December 10, 2009 Community service can take many forms, and this December Northbrook students gave the elementary school students at Southbrook Academy the treat of free live theater. This year, Northbrook's theater group performed for Kindergarten on up, "A Trio of Greed" whcih included three skits all centered on the seasonaly appropriate theme:greed. Also used as a teaching tool, the first skit, A Bakers Dozen was a narrated pantomine of the classic Dutch fableof how St, Nicholas inspired a baker to be more giving and thus inventing the tradition of including a 13th cookie in the sale of one dozen. The second skit was the tale of "Harold and Gracie" a modern twist on the classic Hansel and Gretel written by Northbrook 7th grade student, Emily Williams. The last skit was a comic skit, The Bestest Present and invovled many characters who tried to persuade young Norma that spending more is better. Meanwhile Norma discovers that giving, no matter how little you have, is the true spirit of the season.
Northbrook's 5th Annual Winter Olympics Another Huge Success!
January 16, 2008 Northbrook's Winter Olympics competition was a whole school celebration of the Mind, Body and Spirit. At the opening ceremony, the students were divided, mixing all grades evenly into 3 teams. Throughout the afternoon the teams were given specific challenges designed to test their mind, body and spirit. Each challenge was judged by a panel who awarded points for first, second and third places.
The Spirit challenges started with creating a team name and performing a team cheer. The teams names created this year included :"The Orientals", "The Spazz" and "The Microwaves." Other Spirit events included: creating a unifying spirit poster and building a colorful snow sculpture. The Mind challenges consisted of: a spelling, social studies and Spanish bees; a math quiz; and an English grammar exam. The Body challenge, due to sub-teen temperateures was limited this year to the traditional blind folded dog sled race. This screamingly exciting timed competition involved four blidfolded students pulling a rope that was tied to a sled toting a direction-shouting-non-blindfolded-student and guiding that sled through knee high snow along a simple obstacle course. With all students actively participating in various events for their team and cheering each oher along, it was a memorable day! Following some hot chocolate and cookies, the judges tallied the scores and, in a very close contest, announced that this year's winning team was-- the Orientals!. Congratulations to all the participants for accepting the Mind, Body and Spirit challenges and making the 5th annual Northbrook Winter Olympics another success!
