Visual Arts instruction at Northbrook includes:
- Studio Art: A class that explores drawing, painting, and studies of Pop Art, pointillism, self-portraits, and replication of famous artists such a Van Gogh.
- Sculpture: An exploration of 3-dimensional art using various mediums including clay and paper mache, and snow during our annual snow sculpture competition.
- Digital Photography: Develops basic photography language and skills. Students also work on image manipulation and printing.
- Photoshop Art: An advanced course for students who complete digital photography. It includes image manipulation using Adobe photoshop.
- Sewing/Costuming: This club teaches basic button sewing and hemming skills plus allows for more complex costume designs as needed for school musicals.
- Graphic Arts: This class begins with the basic principles of good design and moves on to support independent projects such as programs and poster designs for Northbrook performances.
- Cartooning: This club is taught through the work on cartoons for publishing in the school newspaper club.
- Studio Art Club: This is an afternoon elective for students to have fun with art
Each spring there is a Student Art Show within our annual Variety Show.
All students take at least one art class each year.
