Intramurals and More

Northbrook Academy has created many opportunties for students to participate in sports through intramural programs in Volleyball, Kickball, Bowling, Racketball, Swiming, Dodgeball, Whiffleball and Football. All students get to paricipate individually and in team formats. This format allows our students to develop the body and spirit.

Northbrook has the following intramural sports/activities available to all students:

  • Duckpin bowling: Students get to bowl with other students in a non competitive environment. Northbrook utilizes the Ryan Family Amusement Bowling Center located on rte 44in Raynham.
  • Swimming: All students get to swim at the RAC. WIth timed laps utilizing different strokes, individual performance and stroke improvement is measured. However, we always make time to have fun in the water! We often enjoy playing games like water-ball-tag, doing relay races, and having underwater ring retrieval contests.
  • Racquetball: Students who are interested can play racquetball at the RAC. The courts are well maintained and basic instruction is provided to the students.
  • Dodge ball: Many student enjoy playing dodge ball on the courts at the RAC or outside on the main campus.
  • Cardio workouts: Various modern cardio machines are available for the students to use while at the RAC. Students are encouraged to participate in this individualized exercise option which allows them to run miles without ever leaving the campus.( Bad weather is never a reason to miss a running workout!)
  • Dance: Students utilize the Dance studio at the RAC to work on dance steps or routines. There is a weekly dance class which prepares students for performance at Northbrook variety show and musical.
  • Volleyball/ Wallyball/Badminton: Students play wallyball in the RAC racquetball courts and a volleyball net is set up for use during intramurals days on the Northbrook campus during the spring and fall seasons. The same court is also used to play badminton.
  • Kickball: Students form teams and play spirited games at their home campus on Baker Road, as well as out in the giant fields at Borden Colony.
  • Tennis: In the spring, when Northbrook utilizes the Borden Colony fields for physical education, we enjoy using the tennis courts to teach basic tennis rule and to encourage intramural game play.
  • Street Hockey: The game plays and basic rules are taught as part of Physical education class and many students enjoy playing hockey outdoors in the spring.

"There is nothing like tossing a ball around a field on a beautiful spring day. We have the best of all worlds with access to a first class indoor athletic facility AND the ability to just get outdoors and kick a ball when the weather is good.
